Oh, Mount Rainier. What a beaut. It's one of my favorite things about Seattle: I love how it hovers majestically over us as we go about our days. Lately, it's been appearing in the sunny weather. From our living room window we can just see the top of the mountain. Sometimes when I drive Kyle to work in the mornings, the soft, blue morning amplifies the grandeur of the snowy peak over the Sound. I love it.
We've been dying to get to the national park since we moved here, but hadn't really had a chance until this past weekend. Camping in the park can be tricky - when we arrived, the entire park was full. Luckily, we found a site about 15 minutes outside the park which sits on the side of a river.
The first trail we did on Saturday was the Summerland trail. It's a little over 8.5 miles round trip, but we added some distance because we couldn't resist the views and had to keep going.
Not a bad place to stop for lunch!
The view from Sunrise Point:
On Sunday we took the Tipsoo Lake-Naches Peak Loop trail -
We will definitely be back to Mt. Rainier National Park... soon!
