Montreal, 2013

9/10/2013
I've revamped our blog a bit after it fell by the wayside during my first year of grad school. I want to continue to journal our adventures and have this be a place we can look back at through the years to remember all of the places we've been and many of the things we've experienced. So, I'm going to do some installments of the international trips we've taken that aren't on here so that we can have record of them here!

First up, our honeymoon to Montreal in 2013! We loved Montreal. We originally wanted to go to Europe for our honeymoon, but didn't have the time or funds to make that happen. Kyle's mom gifted us tickets to go to Montreal, and we were pleasantly surprised to find ourselves in a city that felt very European after all. Everyone speaks French, all the menus are in French (you have to ask for an English one) and the people of Quebec province are very adamant about preserving their cultural history.

The city is full of street art and old buildings.
This neighborhood, the Gay Village, was our favorite. There are many restaurants and little shops along this street and we spent some afternoons walking along it.

We loved riding the metro - the stations are so colorful and fun!

There are so many quaint little touches to the city, like this fruit and flower stand:

Montreal is called the City of 100 steeples:

We took a carriage ride one afternoon!

The BnB that we stayed at had a colorful outdoor patio where we ate breakfast every morning.

One of our favorite parts of the trip was our visit to the Mosaiculture International exhibit at the botanical gardens.

We had fun just roaming the streets, eating delicious food, and seeing the sights.

We visited some old family friends who live in the city, Marie Andree and Elias, who fed us delicious food and took us out for ice cream at Juliet and Chocolat

We hiked up to this overlook at Mont Royal for a great view of the city:

We will definitely be back to Montreal & Quebec City some day - this was such a fun trip and we really enjoyed the city!
