State: Oregon
Highpoint: Mount Hood
Elevation: 11239 ft
The other night as we were planning our hikes up Mt. Rainier and Borah Peak this summer, I realized that I never posted about last summer's highpoint: Mt. Hood, Oregon! About a month before this, I broke one of my toes which limited our hiking. Luckily, Mt. Hood has the longest ski season in North America, extending through the summer months, and you can purchase a ski lift pass from the Timberline Lodge to go up to the top. I've never been on a ski life before, so it was really fun! It was weird to watch people skiing and snowboarding in July. We walked around, taking in the views and enjoying some sunshine atop the highest point in Oregon.
Instead of camping, we stayed in a cabin in the woods for the weekend. It was nice to just relax on the back porch, listening to the river below and watching the neighbors horses trot around. Walking into the cabin felt like being transported 50 years back in time!
Cheers to a cozy, relaxing weekend!
