Canyonlands National Park

Around every corner, a new landscape unfolds in Canyonlands National Park. We spent our last few days of our road trip going between Canyonlands and Arches, camping at nearby Dead Horse State Park (which was also beautiful). Canyonlands is split into two conjoined districts - the Needles District in the south and the Island in the Sky District to the north.

Our big hike at Canyonlands was the Druid Arch hike in the Needles District. The trail is 10.4 miles round trip and has no designated path - you have to follow cairns through a riverbed and there are multiple pathways that can be taken to get to the arch. The last half mile of the trail requires some bouldering up to the viewpoint, so we didn't actually get to see the arch at the end. The hike itself was amazing and it felt otherworldly as it wound through deep canyons and varying rock formations.

We also hiked Upheaval Dome, a 1.8 mile trail that takes you to the edge of a 1,000 ft deep crater.

One of our favorite spots in the park was Grand View Point, a 2 mile trail with incredible views:

We also hiked to Mesa Arch:

Canyonlands does not disappoint when it comes to views!
