Highpoint: Eagle Mountain
Elevation: 2301 ft.
While camping in northern Wisconsin this weekend, we took a drive up through Duluth, MN to the highpoint of Minnesota - Eagle Mountain. It was a long, beautiful drive along the coast of Lake Superior. After a half hour drive down a gravel road, we arrived at the trail-head. The climb was about 3.5 miles and took us almost 2 hours. We stopped for a rest by Whale Lake and enjoyed the view. The climb up wasn't too difficult (although it was very rocky), and there was so much to see. The trail goes through forests and bogs and past a lake, and has incredible views once you near the top. This was by far our favorite highpoint yet! The hike, the views, and the warm, fresh air were all pretty incredible.
