The Wisconsin Adventure - Update 2

5/29/2014
#2. Climb to the top of Wisconsin’s highest natural point, Timm’s Hill
Wisconsin is beautiful from way up there!

#3. Visit Wisconsin’s tallest waterfall: Big Manitou Falls (also Little Manitou Falls!)

The hike to the falls was lovely. The path led us right alongside the river and the soft sound of the rushing water was so peaceful.

We went to Little Manitou Falls first. It was pretty incredible - you come around this bend in the trail and all of a sudden there it is in front of you, pouring its red-tinted water over the edge of a hill. It. Was. Gorgeous.

Big Manitou Falls was hard to capture. This is a top view of the valley it runs into.

Big Manitou Falls. We were actually shocked by how huge it is. It's the tallest waterfall in Wisconsin. But we weren't expecting it to be SO huge! Pretty amazing.

#9. Check out Parfrey’s Glen

On our drive through Wisconsin we decided to make a short detour while we still had some sunlight to visit Parfrey's Glen.

I don't feel like these photos do it justice... it's so hard to describe how awesome this moss-covered ravine is.

#11. Have a picnic at Crex Meadows Wildlife Area

We drove through the wildlife area and it was honestly one of the most beautiful places I've ever been!

We saw Canada geese...

and Sandhill cranes...
and Swans...
and a Great Blue Heron...
and a Bald Eagle...whose nest was in a tree nearby!

#21. Eat in a forest at Delta Diner
So this one didn't go so well. We were planning on stopping by the Delta Diner on our way back to Milwaukee from Superior on Monday, but they don't open until 11 on Mondays, so we ended up eating breakfast at a little local food place called the Black Cat Coffeehouse in Ashland. It was quaint and earthy and lovely.

So that's where we are in the Wisconsin Adventure! Check out the list & let us know if there's anything you'd like to join in on!
