Highpoint: Mount Mitchell
Elevation: 6684ft
Mount Mitchell is located in the Black Mountains of North Carolina, about 35 miles out of Ashville. It is the highest point east of the Mississipi River. We wanted to watch the sunset from the highpoint, so after dinner we hiked to the highpoint from our campsite. Wild raspberries lined the trail from the campground to the top. We enjoyed the panoramic sunset view for a long while and then headed back down the trail to make it back to camp before dark. It was lovely.
