Talapus and Olallie Lakes Trail

6/26/2017
Length: 6.2 miles
Elevation gain: 1220 ft.
Highest point: 3780 ft.

We hiked this trail on June 9, 2017 with our friend Liz. It's about an hour away from our house, just off I-90. The trail climbs up to Talapus Lake and then continues on to Olallie Lake. The trail to Talapus was muddy but not difficult to hike. Once we passed that lake and continued onto Olallie, things started to get interesting...

The trail was covered in snow that was quickly melting, making it quite the adventure. We lost the trail at a few points but managed to find it again. We finally made it up to Olallie Lake and stopped for lunch.

We were hanging out with these birds when it started to hail... so we decided to head back down the trail.

When we got back down to Talapus Lake, the sun was shining again!

It was a fun hike - definitely a bit of an adventure with the snow, hail, misty rain, mud, and lost trail!
